Operating as a Social Enterprise
Indela a Social Enterprise
Indela is an entrepreneurial private sector venture which applies market-based strategies to achieve a social purpose. Specifically we wish to address the failure of the market to account for negative externalities that result from a company's drive for profitability. Indela is a non-profit for-profit hybrid. We differentiate from pure play consulting operations in that we do not have significant overheads or infrastructure, with only three full time staff. Our cloud based technology platform (which powers the Indela Process), provides leverage and the ability to operate virtually.
Services delivery
We have assembled a world class virtual team. Dr Michael Molitor the Ex-head of PWC's Climate Change practice heads the Strategic Advisory area, while Professor Euston Quah who is recognised globally as one of the foremost authorities in the application of triple bottom line cost benefit analysis provides expertise and council in the area of environmental and social impact evaluation.
Business model
We apply commercial principles and business planning methodologies to deliver on our clients' requirements. A for profit mindset combined with the passion and drive of the most ardent non-profit worker. We believe this is a powerful combination.
Revenue model
We are a fee for service operation. However, our fees are based on what it actually costs to deliver a project. There is no profit margin built on top, which typically add 20-50% to the overall project budget.
Surpluses income
Make no mistake; we are not running this business to lose money. However, surpluses above and beyond the cost of operation are principally reinvested in the community, rather than being driven by a need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.
We commit to sponsoring programs which we believe can help corporations embed sustainability into their core DNA.
